PG&E Gas Crews in Fountaingrove 10/21

Posted on October 21, 2017

PG&E Press Release 10/21/2017

Several hundred PG&E and contract workers are working to restore gas to every customer in Sonoma County and that restoration includes making repairs to gas facilities in the Fountaingrove and Mark West Springs areas of Santa Rosa today and tomorrow.  Following standard safety practices, crews will need to vent natural gas from the pipeline before service can be fully restored.  As PG&E vents the pipe, the smell of natural gas and the sound of venting may be noticeable to nearby homes and businesses, depending on the wind direction. Please know that natural gas will quickly dissipate into the atmosphere and will not be harmful.

In order to restore service, gas professionals are also visiting homes and businesses to relight pilot lights throughout Santa Rosa today and tomorrow; including the Oakmont area. We appreciate your patience during this process, and we understand your urgency in relighting. As your safety is our top priority, we ask that you please not attempt to relight pilot lights yourself. For your safety, let PG&E do this for you.

Customers who are able to return home and do not have gas service should call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 to schedule a relight.  If you already relit your pilot lights, please call PG&E to do a safety check.

Visit the PG&E website for more information on zone areas and scheduling, as well as other gas relighting process facts.

Customers in the areas where PG&E gas crews are doing repair work and/or re-lights have been notified via the contact information given on their PG&E account.
